While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. In that region there were shepherds iving in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.

Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for see--I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger."

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest and peace to all His people on earth!"

Christ came to give us hope and to bring salvation to the world. He has given, as a gift to all of us, love, compassion and faith. In honor of his birth, here are eight gifts we can give to our family and friends throughtout the year.

THE GIFT OF LISTENING
But you must REALLY listen. No interruption, no day dreaming, no planning your response. Just listening.

THE GIFT OF AFFECTION
Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back and handholds. Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for family and friends.

THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER
Clip cartoons. Share articles and funny stories. Your gift will say, “I love to laugh with you."

THE GIFT OF A WRITTEN NOTE
It can be a simple “Thanks for the help” note or a full sonnet. A brief, handwritten note may be remembered for a lifetime, and may even change a life.

THE GIFT OF A COMPLIMENT
A simple and sincere, “You look great in red", “You did a super job" or "That was a wonderful meal” can make someone's day.

THE GIFT OF A FAVOR
Every day, go out of your way to do something kind.

THE GIFT OF SOLITUDE
There are times when we want nothing better than to be left a lone. Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude to others.

THE GIFT OF A CHEERFUL DISPOSITION
The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to someone, really it's not that hard to say, Hello or Thank you.

May you be blessed with the peace and love of the season... "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:16 & 17
